J.Susan Milton is professor Emeritus of Satatics at Radford University. Dr. Milton recieved the B.S. degree from Western Carolina University, the M.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Ph.D degree in Statistics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State university. She is a Danforth Associate and is a recipient of the Radford University Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Milton is the author of Statistical Methods in the Biological and Health Sciences as well as Introduction to statistics, Probability with the Essential Analysis, and a first Course in the Theory of Linear Statistical Models. Jesse C. arnold is a Professor of Statistics at Virginia Polytechnic Insitute and state University. Dr. arnold received the B.S. Degree from Southeastern state University, and the M.A and Ph. D degrees in statistics from Florida state university. He served as head of Statistics department for ten years, is a fellow of the American Statistical Association, and elected member of the International Statistics Institute. I bought this book some time ago while I was doing a film making course. And since then I have has some experience making short films. So this review is based on some experience being taught and making simple films. Most of what I know either comes from the training I had and from the very good stuff available on the internet and more recently being on another HE video making course.Unfortunately, this book is well out of date. It was published in 2005, but seems to have been written around 2002/3. Technology had already moved on somewhat.Leaving this issue aside, I still think this is not a very good book. The author tends to leave off just where you need to know more about the subject he is writing about. For example: he mentions log sheets, but skips over what you really need to know and doesn't give any useful example of one so the reader can see how to do it properly. The chapter on 'Using Lights' is particularly poor and his examples of lighting for video are frankly appalling.Overall, I can not recommend this book. There is better out there.

I read the German translation of this book, also published by Dorling Kindersley. I am relatively new to professional video production and this book has given me all the basic knowledge required. It gave me more confidence in the difficult time when I decided to start out professionally.This book helped me choose which computer, which video editing programmes, which camera and which audio equipment to buy. Apart from offering an introduction to video techniques and giving ideas for projects, it provides an overview of the latest equipment that amateurs, semi-professionals (this category includes indie filmmakers/ documentary makers) and top professionals use.Digital Video Handbook is split into 7 chapters:Introduction to Digital VideoHandling Camera

I have gotten a great deal out of every book written by Tom Ang. He is a true teacher. I keep my copy with me when I am out shooting.

I had noted this book at a friend of mine and ordered one from Amazon.Excellent book covers all areas and explained with plain language. I would recommend the book for those beginners who wish to understand more about the subject and would like to move on to more complex stuff.

About the Author

Lee T. Ostrom, PhD, has worked in the fields of risk assessment, industrial safety, ergonomics, and human factors for over thirty years. A Certified Professional Ergonomist and Certified Safety Professional, he has been an assistant professor and degree coordinator for the industrial technology degree program at the University of Idaho. He is the author of Creating the Ergonomically Sound Workplace.

Cheryl A. Wilhelmsen is an assistant professor at APUS/AMU and consults with NASA Ames in the area of aviation inspection. In her thirty year career, she has conducted hundreds of ergonomic assessments and risk assessments from offices to nuclear hot cells. She has a master's of science in industrial technology from the University of Idaho and is currently a PhD.ABD.
